It's not for the first time in Dahanu's history that a teenager has again brought glory to self and the town. And this time too it was big; big enough for a coastal town of Dahanu.
It has been rightly said, "Never judge a book by its cover". Dahanu, though a small town, has shown continuous success in the sports arena.
Here, we bring you an account of enduring efforts of some of the sports-stars of Dahanu.

In the words of Mr. Dilip Agate...
It all started when my sons started growing up and had no extra-curricular activities in the evenings. So I started training them in Gymnastics and Yoga, apart from engaging them in the regular evening sessions of exercises. In the course of time they were joined by their friends. The neighbouring kids were to follow next.
As the crowd grew, the news spread. I was approached by Mrs. Puran Irani, (...), and was asked to conduct various sports activities for the Zoroastrian kids. Thus started the swimming sessions at Mrs. Manijeh Irani's (fondly known as Mani teacher) place and the premises of H. K. Irani hall were opened up for the conducting of Gymnastic classes. Later on through pressure from other parents, Basket-Ball was initiated at the St. Mary's High School's sports ground.
But these activities were short lived. This caused immense dissatisfaction amongst the parents whose wards were benefitting from the coaching. Again, the parents themselves came to their ward's rescue. To the forefront were Mrs. Puran Irani & Mrs. Shahnaz Mubarakai. The Mubarakai family was kind enough to offer me their premises (popularly known as Irani Compound) during evenings for the practice of Basket-Ball and Athletics. Both these families were amongst the first ones to whole heartedly support, respond and participate in all the activities undertaken by the club. No wonder, Shahyaz Mubarakai became the first sportsperson from Dahanu taluka to represent Maharashtra State in the National Level Athletics meet.
Taking encouragement from such achievements, the club grew in strength and a generation was born; from National Participants to National Champions!
So far the club's sportspersons have won 23 medals at National Level and much more at the State Level, perhaps the highest from the district.
